John L. Ambrogi

Intellectual property encompasses far more than forms and filings.  It represents a business’s face to the world, its indispensable product that people need, and its most valuable secrets to be protected in corporate operations. Intellectual property in some fashion touches nearly every stage of a business’s development from small start-ups to worldwide corporations. Strong IP lawyers like John know how to create and manage IP portfolios for every kind of business at any stage in its development.

Defining Your Image, Your Product, And Your Operation.

John has been handling intellectual property legal needs for over twenty years. His clients range from small, hard-working businesses to Fortune 500 corporations.  John’s practice focuses on protecting, evaluating, enforcing, and defending intellectual property rights in both domestic and international markets. He has decades of experience handling rights secured by patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets among others.  John has the experience to handle any IP matter.

ManagingYour Image, Your Product, And Your Operation.

A company’s intellectual property rights are secured in many intricate ways. This requires counsel who has comprehensive, well-rounded experience ready for any issue no matter how complex.
John’s decades of experience allows him to handle transactional matters involving patents, trademarks, copyrights, licensing, E-Commerce, IP audits/transfers, IP clearance and opinion letters, trade secrets, and domain name matters.  Moreover, John’s experience managing intellectual property portfolios includes performing intellectual property evaluations, due diligence, and assessments for business ventures and financing arrangements. He also negotiates and drafts intellectual property related agreements such as letters of intent, informational services (software licenses, hardware purchases, and telecommunications), consulting, non- disclosure, employment related contracts, E-Commerce, and the sale of IP.
John's experience also includes working with clients to design business development strategies.  He helps negotiate agreements covering different business ventures such as venture capital arrangements and business mergers or acquisitions as they relate to intellectual property.
Extending himself to the professional and business community John has been published on many of the foregoing topics.

Protecting Your Image, Your Product, And Your Operation.

In addition to creating and managing an IP portfolio, John also has extensive trial experience defending intellectual property rights.  Some of John’s most well known trials include serving as lead and co-trial counsel on patent and trademark infringement, complex licensing agreements, trade secret cases, and domain name disputes among others.  John also has experience handling preliminary injunctions and Temporary Restraining Order (“TRO”) hearings for trademark infringement, trade secrets, and breach of non-compete agreements.  He also has experience litigating opposition and cancellation practice before the U.S. Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.
John’s background creating, managing, and protecting IP portfolios gives him the ability to design strong trial strategies, help clients understand risk assessments related to the IP portfolio, and provide a seasoned and proven voice for the best settlements.
